Today’s Perspective continues to reflect on the Beatitudes and Celebrate Recovery’s eight recovery principles.
The CR program has been put on hold as a result of the current pandemic. Who knows how long it will be before we can meet again. The fellowship that has lifted us up has been sorely missed. We are praying that our brothers and sisters in CR will draw strength from our Savior- Phil 4:13 and that He will sustain you through this drought.
Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4.
We not only mourn our own sinful condition, but the condition of a lost world.
2 Corinthians 7:10 says, For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
We can experience comfort in the days to come, “when God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes. ” Revelation 21:4
The second recovery principle of CR states,
“Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover.”
By believing in God we can’t help but mourn over our sinful past. Once we see that we matter to Him we are convicted and for the first time we feel a sense of guilt and remorse. We can finally rest in His power, knowing that He can take our brokenness and help us to heal.
We mourn our past, but we rejoice in our glorious future! Take care and stay safe.
