Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6.
We all have cravings. Whatever your body craves that’s what you’re going to feed it. Whether it’s Twinkies or carrot sticks, we all want to satisfy that desire.
Our spiritual appetite is the same way. Whatever we fill our minds with, that is what we’re going to crave. See the perspective on Truth
“Sinners don’t hunger and thirst after righteousness instead, they drink iniquity like water. Job 15:16 ” (Ray Comfort, The Evidence Bible.)
The fifth recovery principle puts it like this:
Voluntarily submit to any and all changes God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.
When we hunger for the things of this world we fall short of the glory of God.
We need to have a Godly hunger that can only be satisfied by the word of God. “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” Matthew 4:4
When we find ourselves in the desert, and we have an unquenchable thirst, let us not satisfy it with impure thoughts. John 4:14
We cannot become the men and women that God wants us to be if we don’t submit to every change he wants to make in our lives. Submission can only come when in humility we hunger and thirst after the Lord Christ. It’s time to work up an appetite. Repent and let God mold you into someone He can use to bring others to Christ. That they too may have a hunger and a thirst for the things of God.
